ऐसा कौन सा कुआं है जिसमें गिरने के बाद आदमी बाहर नहीं निकल पाता?
एक बार राजा भोज के दरबार में एक सवाल उठा कि ऐसा कौन सा कुआं है जिसमें गिरने के बाद आदमी बाहर नहीं निकल पाता?
इस प्रश्न का उत्तर कोई नहीं दे पाया। आखिर में राजा भोज ने राज पंडित से कहा की इस प्रश्न का उत्तर सात दिनों के अंदर लेकर आओ वरना आपको अभी तक जो इनाम धन आदि दिया गया है वापस ले लिए जायेंगे तथा इस नगरी को छोड़कर दूसरी जगह जाना होगा! छः दिन बीत चुके थे। राज पंडित को जबाव नहीं मिला था निराश होकर वह जंगल की तरफ गया। वहां उसकी भेंट एक गड़रिए से हुई।
गड़रिए ने पूछा आप तो राजपंडित हैं, राजा के दुलारे हो फिर चेहरे पर इतनी उदासी क्यों? यह गड़रिया मेरा क्या मार्गदर्शन करेगा? सोचकर पंडित ने कुछ नहीं कहा। इसपर गडरिए ने पुनः उदासी का कारण पूछते हुए कहा - पंडित जी हम भी सत्संगी हैं हो सकता है आपके प्रश्न का जवाब मेरे पास हो, अतः नि:संकोच कहिए।
राज पंडित ने प्रश्न बता दिया और कहा कि अगर कलतक प्रश्न का जवाब नहीं मिला तो राजा नगर से निकाल देगा।
गड़रिया बोला -" मेरे पास पारस है उससे खूब सोना बनाओ। एक भोज क्या लाखों भोज तेरे पीछे घूमेंगे।
बस,पारस देने से पहले मेरी एक शर्त माननी होगी कि तुझे मेरा चेला बनना पड़ेगा।" राज पंडित के अंदर पहले तो अहंकार जागा कि दो कौड़ी के गड़रिए का चेला बनूं? लेकिन स्वार्थ पूर्ति हेतु चेला बनने के लिए तैयार हो गया। गड़रिया बोला -" *पहले भेड़ का दूध पीओ फिर चेले बनो। राजपंडित ने कहा कि यदि ब्राह्मण भेड़ का दूध पीयेगा तो उसकी बुद्धि मारी जायेगी। मैं दूध नहीं पीऊंगा। तो जाओ, मैं पारस नहीं दूंगा - गड़रिया बोला।
राज पंडित बोला -" ठीक है,दूध पीने को तैयार हूं,आगे क्या करना है?"
गड़रिया बोला" अब तो पहले मैं दूध को झूठा करूंगा फिर तुम्हें पीना पड़ेगा।"
राजपंडित ने कहा " तू तो हद करता है! ब्राह्मण को झूठा पिलायेगा?" तो जाओ, गड़रिया बोला।
राज पंडित बोला -" मैं तैयार हूं झूठा दूध पीने को ।"
गड़रिया बोला" वह बात गयी।अब तो सामने जो मरे हुए इंसान की खोपड़ी का कंकाल पड़ा है, उसमें मैं दूध दोहूंगा,उसको झूठा करूंगा फिर तुम्हें पिलाऊंगा। तब मिलेगा पारस नहीं तो अपना रास्ता लीजिए।"
राजपंडित ने खूब विचार कर कहा-" है तो बड़ा कठिन लेकिन मैं तैयार हूं।
गड़रिया बोला-" मिल गया जवाब
यही तो कुआं हैं लोभ और तृष्णा का जिसमें आदमी गिरता जाता है और फिर कभी नहीं निकलता।
जैसे कि तुम पारस को पाने के लिए इस लोभ रूपी कुएं में गिरते चले गए..!!

Once a question was raised in the court of Raja Bhoj that which is the well in which a man cannot come out after falling?
No one could answer this question. Finally, King Bhoj told Raj Pandit to answer this question within seven days, otherwise the reward money etc. given to you till now will be taken back and you will leave this city and go to another city. Must go place! Six days had passed. Raj Pandit did not get any reply and was disappointed and went towards the forest. There he met a shepherd.
The shepherd asked, "You are a royal scholar, the king's favorite, then why is there so much sadness on your face?" How will this shepherd guide me? After thinking the Pandit did not say anything. On this the shepherd again asked the reason for sadness and said - Pandit ji, we are also satsangi, maybe I have the answer to your question, so tell me without any hesitation.
Raj Pandit told the question and said that if the answer to the question is not found till tomorrow then the king will throw him out of the city.
The shepherd said - "I have Paras, make a lot of gold from it. One feast or lakhs of feasts will follow you."
Only, before giving Paras, you will have to agree to one of my conditions that you will have to become my disciple." At first ego arose in the Raj Pandit that he wanted to become the disciple of a two-penny shepherd, but to fulfill his selfishness, he got ready to become a disciple. The shepherd said. -" *First drink sheep's milk and then become a disciple. Rajpandit said that if a Brahmin drinks sheep's milk, his intellect will be destroyed. I will not drink milk. So go, I will not give Paras - said the shepherd.
Raj Pandit said - "Okay, I am ready to drink milk, what to do next?"
The shepherd said, "Now first I will churn the milk and then you will have to drink it."
Raj Pandit said, "You are crossing the limit! Will you make a liar drink drink from a Brahmin?" Then go, said the shepherd.
Raj Pandit said - "I am ready to drink false milk."
The shepherd said, "That's it. Now the skeleton of a dead man's skull is lying in front, I will milk it, make it soft and then make you drink it. Then you will get Paras, otherwise take your own path."
Rajpandit thought carefully and said, "It is very difficult but I am ready."
The shepherd said, "I got the answer."
This is the well of greed and thirst into which man keeps falling and never comes out again.
As if you kept falling into this well of greed to attain Paras..!! |
